Standards and Specifications for Naval Shaft Lines

Línea de Eje | Naviensis

COMPONENT MATERIALS LIST:

  • Tail shaft options: AISI 304, AISI 316, V174, Marinox 25.
  • Steel stern tube: Fe 55.1 – Fe510 – S355 – E355 steel tube with a C.30 stuffing box head.
  • Bronze stern tube: Ot.Man alloy for both astern and forward heads, and tube choices of OT 63 stainless steel.
  • Bearing options: Hydrolubricated rubber or Fibroid 922 (antifriction metal available upon request).
  • Flange: Forged C.45 steel, normalized.
  • Fasteners: stainless steel for stud bolts, nuts, and dowels.
  • Ot.Man alloy specs: Rm 510 N/mm2 breaking load, Rp0.2 200 N/mm2 yield, 22% A5d elongation.
  • Mibral alloy specs: Rm 650 N/mm2 breaking load, Rp0.2 245 N/mm2 yield, 16% A5d elongation.
  • Duplex.
  • GRP Epoxy Fiber Horn Tubes.
  • Vulkan, PSS, ERCEM type seals.

DIMENSIONS:

  • Stern tube closing length (B) is customizable.
  • The ‘G’ dimension should be specified by the customer if the shaft is directly linked to the reverse/reduction gear.
  • For an intermediate shaft, customers should provide the distance from the inside block to the reverse/reduction gear flange.

BEARING LUBRICATION: Lubrication is achieved through the natural circulation of water. Water enters via a dedicated sea water intake and a straight, short tubing into the stern-tube’s water inlet. The tubing’s section should be at least twice the size of the inlet hole, and water stop gates are discouraged
